Mister Marinated Tofu Toast

Hakuna matata!

Who is saying that tofu is not tasty? Buhhh... I would like to show you the recipe my mum teached me about how to marinate tofu. You need to meet... Mr. Marinated!
Even as salty breakfast or snack, or part of your lunch or dinner, you can always marinate tofu and give it your point. In that case, that could be any of this meals. Why don't to start the day with a salty breakfast? For example. You can actually prepare tofu the night before and do the toast in the morning. Let me introduce you my friend.




Japanese-style tofu (a 300 gr. piace)
Toasts (2 u.)
Veganesse (1 tablespoon)


Soft olive oil (1/2 cup, approx. 130 ml.)
Soy sauce low in salt (
1/4 cup)
Secret ingredient* (1 soupspoon)
Dried oregano (1 tablespoon)

Thyme (1 teaspoon)
Rosemary (1 teaspoon)
Grated fresh ginger (1 teaspoon)
Brown sugar (1 teaspoon)
White pepper (1 teaspoon)
Garlic clove, peeled and carved with garlic press (1 large piece)
Lemon juice (1/2 lemon piece) // Mild vinegar (equivalent)

*Secret ingredient: 'Pimentón de la Vera', spanish smoked paprika.


How to do it:

1. Put all the ingredients but tofu in a bowl.

2. Mix them with a fork.

3. Put half of the mixture in a cristal bowl, where tofu will be marinated.

4. Cut tofu in 4 equal pieces. So tofu will get the flavour better.

5. Put tofu on top of the mixture in the cristal bowl.

6. Top it with the rest of the mixture.

7.  Cover it and leave it in the frigo.

8. Wait between 36 and 48 hours, more time more flavour. In case of vaccum packing, it's enough with 24 hours.

9. Turn it around when you have already wait half the time! And then, keep waiting. 

10. Once this time has passed, take out of the frigo the quantity you want. You can conserve the rest drained and wrapped in film in the freezer and use it whenever you feel it.

11. Cut tofu in 1 cm. slices.

12. Put the oil in the skillet and heat it. Just enough for toast tofu without frying it.

13. Grill tofu from both sides, as you like it.

14. Put veganese on the toast and add tofu on top.
15. Combine it as you prefer, for example with leaves and tomato, and enjoy! Nyom nyom.

Why do I love it? -and why you should-

1. Spices have many nutrients and properties that we should introduce in our diet sometimes. For example, rosemary is soothing, so you can combat the stress!

2. Proteins are essential and necessary, and we find them whole and complete in some foods, like tofu. Although we need to combine different proteins and aminoacids sources, with tofu  and few others it becomes a simplier work, and we only need to combine the other foods to let it absorb nutrients easier.

3.  It's much tastier than plain tofu and it makes me happy. Hapiness is health, you know.
